Life Path Number Calculator: the Number in Your Birthday

The Life Path Number is the core figure of Western numerology: reduce your birth year, month and day, add them up, and you get 1–9 or a master number (11, 22, 33). It sketches your underlying drive and life lesson — a birth-moment system, like Zi Wei Dou Shu and BaZi, which makes them fascinating to read side by side.

All 12 Life Path Numbers at a glance

1 · The Initiator

Independence, first moves, leading the way — your energy gathers where you take the first step yourself. The lesson is collaboration: walking with others without losing your own pace.

2 · The Harmonizer

Sensitivity and balance are your base tone; you listen, mediate, and accompany well. The lesson is keeping your own boundaries and opinions while caring for everyone else.

3 · The Expresser

Creative, verbal, contagious energy — inspiration arrives fast. The lesson is gathering scattered talents into one finishable shape instead of opening ten doors at once.

4 · The Builder

Order, stamina, reliability — you turn ideas into structures and routines. The lesson is leaving a door open for the unplanned, so stability never hardens into rigidity.

5 · The Explorer

Freedom and experience feed you; adaptable, allergic to feeling trapped. The lesson is planting a few pillars in the flow: body, finances, commitments.

6 · The Caretaker

Responsibility, nurture, and an eye for beauty — a natural center of home. The lesson is separating being needed from being worthy, and asking yourself first before giving.

7 · The Seeker

Introspective, analytical energy that asks what lies beneath, and recharges alone. The lesson is letting your insight leave the study — shared, used, useful.

8 · The Powerhouse

Naturally tuned to goals, resources and results, with the nerve to scale things up. The lesson is learning to define "enough", so achievement serves life and not the reverse.

9 · The Humanitarian

Compassion and big-picture vision — you see canvases larger than yourself, and can drain yourself for them. The lesson is tending to the person in front of you first: you.

11 · The Illuminator

Master number: intuition like an antenna, often knowing before logic does, with strong idealism. The lesson is landing perception into deliverable action — otherwise sensitivity turns inward and burns.

22 · The Master Builder

Master number: the executor's discipline of 4 with the vision of 11 — the potential to make grand blueprints real. The lesson is carrying the pressure that ambition brings; slow is also fast.

33 · The Teacher

Master number: the energy of devotion and healing; people lean on you. The lesson is filling your own cup before pouring — burnout helps no one.

How is it calculated?

The three-part Pythagorean method: reduce the year, month and day each to a single digit (keeping 11, 22 and 33 when they appear), then add the three results and reduce again. Example: June 15, 1990 → year 1990→19→10→1, month 6, day 15→6; total 13→4, so the Life Path Number is 4.

11, 22 and 33 are "master numbers": stronger energy, heavier lessons. They are usually read both as themselves and as their reduced digit (11 alongside 2).

Read East and West together

A Life Path Number compresses your underlying drive into one figure; Zi Wei Dou Shu and BaZi unfold the same birthday into twelve palaces and four pillars. Casting both from one birthday makes the comparison genuinely interesting.
