Learning, shelter, the nourishing god

What it is

Zheng Yin (正印) is the element that generates the Day Master at opposite polarity — Gui water to a Jia wood Day Master. Generation is nourishment, as a mother feeds a child, so Direct Resource governs the mother, learning, documents, shelter and reputation. It is the nourishing god of the Ten Gods.

Its two classical functions are transforming Killing — converting the pressure of Qi Sha into knowledge and authority — and protecting a weak Day Master, which then has something to lean on. Too much Resource inverts into dependence and inertia; the older phrase is that the self gets buried under it. As always, how much is right depends on what the Day Master can carry.

Temperament

Kind and generous, studious and reflective, with more regard for the life of the mind and for reputation than for possessions. There is usually a cultivated quality, good relations with elders, and a pattern of help arriving at difficult moments.

The tendency to watch is that shelter is comfortable, and comfort delays the point at which someone stands on their own.

Career and wealth

The fit is academic research, education and culture, public-sector and documentary work, medicine and religion — livelihoods built on knowledge and standing. Killing transformed by Resource reads as command; Officer and Resource generating each other reads as a clear official path.

Wealth here is steady rather than large. The classical caution is the reverse case: heavy Wealth damaging Resource — chasing money at the cost of the study and reputation the chart actually runs on.

Relationships

As the mother star, family ties tend to run deep and upbringing leaves a strong mark. In relationships the pull is towards warmth, caring and being cared for, with a high need for security. The work is stepping outside the comfortable arrangement so that closeness does not settle into one-way dependence.
