What it is

Zheng Cai (正财) is the element the Day Master controls at opposite polarity — Ji earth to a Jia wood Day Master. What one controls is what one has at one's disposal, and opposite polarity makes that relationship a willing one. So Direct Wealth stands for legitimate, steady wealth earned through labour and management, and for a thrifty, practical way of holding things.

It wants a Day Master strong enough to carry it: wealth in the chart is only usable by someone with the standing to bear it. It also likes Output feeding it, so value circulates. The failure case has its own name — a weak Day Master with heavy wealth is read as "wealth heavy, self light", the rich house with a poor man in it, where money becomes a burden rather than a resource.

Temperament

Diligent and grounded, with real responsibility; the working belief is that effort and return are proportional. Money is usually handled with a clear head and life is arranged in order, without much appetite for display.

The tendency to watch: calculation past the point of usefulness reads as caution, and caution passes on the opportunities that require some risk. Putting the whole of one's sense of safety on a number is its characteristic trap.
